Vapes Recent Alerts & Actions |

|
Hello Resident
In the Wednesfield and Heath Town area, WMnow and local authorities have issued alerts addressing the rise of discarded vapes and the sale of illegal, oversized devices that contribute to this litter.
Recent Alerts & Actions Authorities have taken action to address the issue of discarded vapes and the sale of illegal devices. "Clean & Safe" teams have increased efforts to remove hazardous electronic waste, including lithium-battery vapes, particularly around high-density housing blocks in Heath Town. The City of Wolverhampton Council has conducted increased "test purchase" operations in Wednesfield and Heath Town, resulting in the seizure of numerous illegal, oversized vapes. Enforcement has also focused on shops near schools, such as Wednesfield High Academy, to prevent the sale of vapes to minors. This includes significant fines for shops in Heath Town and Wednesfield where illegal e-cigarettes were found.
How to Take Action If you encounter vape litter hotspots or shops selling to children, you can report it using the Wolverhampton Report It tool. For safe disposal, dedicated vape recycling bins have been placed in major retailers at Bentley Bridge Retail Park, such as Sainsbury's and B&M, to help prevent battery fires. Additionally, local volunteer groups in Wednesfield are working to identify areas with high concentrations of vape packaging to assist the council in targeting enforcement.
